Trials of Sand

The village of Sand - it was named that for a reason. Every inch of land not occupied by architecture was bedded with sand; soft, supple sand, hot and warm, just like the sand of the desert. Even some of the buildings were built of sand.

Some of them were once built by Yakate himself.

He was sitting on a large field of sand, the sun shining orthogonal to the ground. He was somewhere near the middle of the village. All around him there was a long stretch of sand, but he was just able to see the houses and buildings of the grand village of Sunagakure. A smirk etched his face; these were nothing compared to what Sand had once been, only four years ago... nay, five, perhaps. Thoughts clouded his mind as he closed his eyes, lying down on his back...

Chiriko approached the sand field calmly, as soon as Yakate looked at his outfit he could tell that Chiriko has recently killed something do to the small blood spatter on the bottom trim of his clothing.

Upon walking up behind his sensei a smale rare smile spread across his face. "Hello Yakate-Sensei," he said calmly. Shukaku was not bothering him at the moment, which was a something that only happened for the first hour or so after a kill, and he was enjoying the quiet.

"So what are we doing today sensei?" He asked, tilting his head slightly as he waited for an answer.

Through the corner of his eyes, he could see Chiriko approaching him. And as he did, he sighed in sorrow. Not because he didn't like his presence - he actually felt quite safe with him - but because this person was the host of the One-Tailed Beast. The Shukaku. And the blood stain on the hem of his shirt gave him away.

'If you must kill, at least be discreet with it... soak away the blood.'

Yakate darted up tiredly, swaying on his feet slightly as he regained his balance. He blinked several times, adjusting to the glare of the sand, and finally set his eyes upon the young boy.

'Today, we're... um...

Packing up for a field trip! We'll be going to the mountains to prepare you for your next stage of training. Which will be... er...

A secret!''

Honestly, he didn't know what else to teach Chiriko. But he was sure he would think of something when he was there; he was just awesome that way. He chortled stupidly as he thought of it.

Chiriko sighed slightly as a small frown touched his face as he nodded. This was something Yakate was always reminding him to to, but never actually did. However when he heard that they where going on a trip he perked up a bit, this ment not only training, but that he wouldn't have to deal with anyone other then yakate-sensei hopefully.

"A training trip? That sounds good!" And he meant it, Chiriko loved training and couldn't wait till they started. It would be a blast.

Bookwoman was reading a book, when saw the Idiotic Rapunzel talk with some brat.
Jealousy crept up in her mind; Yakate was her brother, hers alone and this snot kid had nothing to do with him. Plus, he wasn't done training her.
She closed her book and thought for a moment before taking action.

Thus, she stomped over the two guys, kicked Yakate in his back, making him fall flat on the ground and stomped on him a few times.
"It's your turn to cook dinner tonight." she snapped at him, hitting him one last time with the thick book she was reading. "And who's this Sand Rat?"
The single green eye, that was slowly losing it's sight and color, glared at the genin. She didn't like him; an omnious presence was in and around him. He was dangerous.

'Ow... Ouch - Ow ow ow. You stepped on my butt!'

Shaken and surprised, Yakate rolled over to let his face face the air again, shutting his eyes vehemently as the sun glared straight into his eyes. He rolled around several times, and finally rolled (stylishly) onto his feet, looking increasingly like a Drunken Fist user.

'Well, Booky, we shan't be having dinner tonight! Well... we will have dinner. I meant uh... we'll be cooking a lot more than just dinner! 'Cause we're going on a little trip, with...

Oh my. Chiriko, this is Bookwoman. My sister. My sister, this is Chiriko. My son from a mother unknown.'

His hands were flailing around wildly during introductions; it got him strangely excited, the fact that the only two people he knew well would finally meet.

In fact, till then, he never embraced the fact that he was a Sensei now; he had two students. And awesome ones at that. He loved them.

Chiriko stood still in surprise, not only did this women interrupt his time with his sensei, she dared to call him something as degraded as "sand rat". This angered him greatly, what a way to ruin the first happy moment he had experienced in a long time.

"Do you mean...this women is coming with us Yakata-sensei..? He said, a deep sadness in his voice.

Bookwoman gave the kid a sharp look, crossing her arms over her chest.
"What's your name?" she asked, still irriated, though the beating she had given Yakate had relieved her somewhat.

Meeting new people was always difficult for her; the rules of Bookmen was pulling at her, screaming to her to avoid the people, to stop involving herself again in the world filled with evil. But she couldn't and didn't want to follow that rule anymore.
Getting to talk with more people actually filled her with some warmth she wasn't ready to let go.

"...You can call me Asa." she finally muttered at the kid, letting him enter on a whim the close circle of people that had the priviledge to call her by her old name. A soft tint of pink was covering her cheeks while she said that, getting awkward from the proposition.

The smile on his face never faded, but it was no longer a true one. It was fake. He was expecting a reaction similar to the one he had had from his pupils. They didn't seem at all pleased to meet each other, especially not Chiriko. He sounded positively saddened. Asa was... well, Asa.

'Yes... she will be joining us.

Anyway, let's get home and get ready. We have a long journey awaiting us tomorrow!'

Saying so, Yakate flipped around on his heel and strutted backwards.

And twirled around again when he realized he was going the wrong way. He pushed Asa along with him with his arms, and casually strolled back home, hoping Chiriko would be able to take care of himself till the next day.

Chiriko could tell the smile on his teacher's face was fake but wouldn't call him on it, he justs nodded bowed slightly and turned to go pack for his training trip. On his way he saw several members of the Puppetering Guild walking through the village putting on a show for the people, stoping to watch for a while he decided that along with learning to master his sand he would do this, he would become a puppet ninja.

With a grin he continued home to grab some stuff knowing that he might have to do this on his own, because he didn't think Yakate knew much about the puppet arts.
