Kinobori no Waza, the art of tree climbing serves a dual purpose. Taking part in Kinobori
Shugyou (Tree Climbing Training) helps a ninja learn how to focus their chakra. It also
teaches the ninja how to run up trees and walk on vertical walls. The training helps the
ninja learn how to focus just the right amount of chakra to a particular part of their body.
The amount needed to climb is small but it must be precise. The feet are regarded as the
hardest location to master chakra focusing. So by gaining the art of this skill, the ninja will
have any jutsu available (theoretically) because they will be able to focus their chakra as needed.

pin down an opponent, and then unleash a torrent of fire upon them.

Description:
Bikou Ninjutsu is the technique ninjas use to follow their targets covertly. The manner in which the
ninja shadows their target can differ, from the basic hiding under a nearby object, to using a jutsu
to turn oneself invisible.

It was a cold and windy night in Blood Village-Demon Country. The unforgiving gusts tore shingles from rooftops while the low temperature allowed for even the slightest breathe to show in the midnight air. There was a mass raid happening at that moment. As people ran left and right, to and away from the chaos, Mari Satsukari, Kage of Blood Village mansion with her arms folded and a look of calm determination upon her face as her Kage robes flapped in the wind. A fearsome woman by any standards Mari could have stopped this madness with great ease but that was not his duty this night. As Mari saw another building burn she was relieved to sense several familiar presences. “Lord Kage, you’ve summoned us?” Mari turned to gaze upon the finest fighting force in the entire ninja world. They were the pride of the Blood Village. A legendary ANBU forged through countless battles and nearly just as many victories. When Mari spoke it was slow and direct, “These cowards attack unprovoked. End them.” The ANBU leader made a simple hand gesture and with that the members of the Legendary ANBU scattered in pairs of two, off to weed out the ninja with whom they were fighting with. Stood atop the ANBU. They were legion. Yet, they were one.

“So Siegmund, how we going to do this?” The ANBU member was a Chuunin among this ANBU, as was the man he found himself traveling with. “Well Kasumi, I figure we locate all enemy ninja and we remove their heads from their shoulders.” These were hardened warriors. Words only had meaning while discussing the situation. Tactics were something this ANBU had learned to implement based off of their opponents movements. As the two men leapt from rooftop to rooftop Siegmund made an abrupt stop. As Kasumi stopped at his side Siegmund pushed him down as a kunai sped past where his head had been just a split second earlier. Kasumi rolled with the momentum from Siegmund's push and came up in a low crouch, “Thanks Siggy!” The two were back to back watchful of another surprise attack that came without hesitation. From the shadows of the midnight moon three enemy shinobi were upon them, seemingly happy with the odds. A male spoke, presumably the leader of this trio, “Look at what we have here. Two adorable little Chuunin.” The male’s two partners spread out forming a triangle around the two ANBU members. Siegmund with his hand in his back pocket made a move and Kasumi was upon him in a flash with his Ninjaken. He took the enemies shinobi’s head clean off. “That was no fun at all”, Siegmund said as he continued his forward motion, Kasumi following closely. As they neared an outer wall of the village they saw a group of ninja fleeing to the south. They weren’t going to catch them. The distance was just too great. As they saw there were no enemies left Siegmund shook his head and before saying, “C’mon, we should get back.” At that moment, they noticed movement amongst the fallen raiders. One of the raiders stood up and sped off in his previous direction carrying something in his arms. Kasumi threw a giant spear made from chakra and missed the fleeing enemy by mere inches. He watched the Glacier shinobi shrink into the horizon, “I think we screwed up Siggy. Was that guy holding a kid?” Siegmund looked at Kasumi and these men sped off toward the Kage mansion.

Tatsu Takeshi was leaving the Ninja Academy for the last time. Having just passed his Genin Exams and being assigned to the best sensei in the village he wanted to celebrate. He headed to the Ramen Shop. When he arrived he saw his new sensei. Shizuka was the first person to achieve the teaching abilities of a Sage. Tatsu was honored to be blessed with such an advantage. He approached his sensei. “Hello sir. How are you today?” Shizuka looked at his student as he replied, “I’m great. You go on off now” Tatsu looked confused. His response was a quick, “No.” Shizuka smiled and tossed a map to his student. He tossed his student some ryo and disappeared. Looking at the map Tatsu realized he had to travel four miles east and nine miles south. He shrugged and set off for Lightning Village’s South Gate. Upon reaching the South Gate he noticed another Genin who had just graduated walking into the gate. He ran to greet him, “Hey Sachi! Where are you coming from?” Sachiko smiled, “Hello Tatsu. I’ve been wondering around. Turns out Taijutsu is in my blood.” Tatsu laughed and trotted out of the gate. As he looked back and waved he yelled, “Now I’m excited!” yet?”

After an hour of walking, Tatsu stopped to rest. As he sat legs crossed on the grounds he found himself traversing he went over his inventory. In his equipment pack he had five Kunais, two Exploding Tags, ten Senbons, fifteen Shurikens and five Smoke Bombs. He felt confident in his ability to fend off any wildlife he might encounter. After recounting his tools Tatsu continued south. He noticed the feel of a faint breeze on his face. He also noticed the destruction and darkness of Blood Village. Off to the east he could see a mountain range that had a village spread across it. He stopped to gaze at the beautiful Blood Village. He heard of it in stories though never had a chance to visit. Today he was on a mission and could not visit. But as he continued south he promised he would make time in the future. As he was exiting the mountains around the point where he should begin traveling east he heard a sound in the trees. Without warning he was thrown through the air with all wind forced from his lungs. Something had hit him from behind, something big. As a very solid tree stopped his flight in a not so gentle way Tatsu rolled into a crouching position. As he scanned the area he saw his attacker. It was a Giant Wolf. Five feet from ground to shoulder and just over twice that size in length, this wolf was a monstrous sight. As Tatsu noticed blood on the wolf’s claws he felt a trickle of blood down his back. “Just perfect”, he muttered to himself. Drawing his Shuriken and dropping into a defensive stance he awaited the wolf’s next attack. The beast lunged at the young Genin with a vicious howl and Tatsu lunged to meet it. As the wolf took a snap at him Tatsu used his Kunai and cut the wolf’s face. Letting go of the Kunai he flew feet first toward a tree. Flipping in mid air he caught a tree branch and pulled himself up. As he turned to face the Giant Wolf he had two Exploding Tags gripped between two kunais. The wolf lunged for him again and Tatsu threw the Kunais with the Exploding Tags toward it gaping mouth then began making hand signs. The wolf slashed at one Kunai with his forepaw and continued sailing through the air. With no time to react the wolf’s prey found himself helpless. In a puff of smoke the wolf slammed into the tree. “Smoke bombs… work like a charm.” Tatsu stood higher in the tree. The wolf took a moment to gather its wits and started leaping from branch to branch in an attempt to meet his prey. Tatsu gave a sad look. It pained him to slay such a beautiful creature but the wolf was giving him no choice. With an arching back flip Tatsu plummeted to the ground quickly as the wolf reached the young ninja’s previous position. As Tatsu land squarely on the ground there was a deafening boom above him. The heat from the blast brushed his face and the shockwave cause his clothes and hair to flow every which way. Tatsu stood and looked up at an open sky. The second Kunai with the Exploding Tag he’d placed upon his perch while the wolf was momentarily distracted had blown the canopy of the forest wide open and the wolf was nowhere to be seen. With a slight nod and a silent prayer for his fallen opponent Tatsu set off in the eastern direction.

Twelve hours, a giant wolf, and a few lesser wild animals led to the sight that lay before Tatsu. Though looking at his map Tatsu realized this might actually be the center of all charted territory. He approached slowly, what happened next would be the center block for the rest of his life.

After weeks of training Tatsu had become one of the top three Genin in Lightning Village. Only Keiko and Sayuri could best him. They had the ability to take more hits. The Genin in Lightning had a special bond. While at the Training Field one day Tatsu noticed a bird seem to freeze in mid air. He looked around thinking maybe he was under a Genjutsu. But looking back at the bird he realized he must just be seeing things. “Tatsu let’s have a go!” Tatsu dropped into a defensive stance as his friend Sachiko flew from the heavy brush surrounding the Training Field. Sachiko assaulted Tatsu’s defense. With perfectly timed blocks and dodges Tatsu was able to keep fresh while landing a few fast punches of his own. Sachi dropped to the floor trying to catch Tatsu with a Leg Sweep. Performing a couple of consecutive back hand springs, Tatsu was able to put space between him and his friend. As he landed he took a deep breath. Sachiko glared at Tatsu. “You know, every time we do this I feel like I’m caught in a Time Lapse. Like my body can’t keep up with my brain. It’s very uncomfortable.” Tatsu dropped to the floor and wiped sweat from his brow while stretching his arms and rubbing his shoulder. “Sachi, those punches are hurting more and more each time.” Sachiko flexed dramatically before saying, “I’ve been working out.” With a laugh the two friends sat under the mid day sky. Tatsu spoke first, “I’m going to miss you guys.” Sachiko looked over but said nothing. Tatsu continued, “I’m taking the Chuunin Exams.” Sachiko fumbled over his words as he quickly rose to his feet, “W…What!? Just like that!?” Tatsu looked up at his good friend and laughed. “I’m better than a lot of Genin and I feel I should get to the big boy games.” Sachiko shrugged and dropped to the ground sitting cross legged and fell onto his back, “Tatsu if anyone can, it’s you. Just be careful okay?” Tatsu looked over at his friend and said, “Always.” The two lay stretched out gazing into the vast sky well into the late evening.

The following morning Tatsu woke up and was surprised to find that he wasn’t the slightest bit nervous. As he strode from his House into the streets of Lightning, he walked toward the Kage mansion. Buying things from the market and dropping ryo into donation boxes spread along the roads, Tatsu was met with smiles from many faces he’d grown accustom to. “V-Money!” Tatsu turned around and noticed the ever beautiful Akemi running toward him. “So I hear you’re taking the Chuunin Exams today?” Tatsu nodded and said, “Right now actually. I’m in a bit of a hurry too. I’ll see you later Akemi.” Akemi smiled and said, “Sure. Good luck.” As he drew closer to the gate leading into the courtyard of the Kage mansion Tatsu noticed a small group of people in his path. Standing in the front of the group was Sachiko. It was Haruko that spoke up first however, “So, our little Matsu is leaving the group?” Yuto stepped forward and wrapped his arm around Tatsu’s shoulders and started walking him toward the Kage mansion’s gates. As they reached the gate Yuto spoke up, “Just remember, no matter what you do, you started off as one of us.” As Tatsu stepped through the gate he turned to look at his classmates with his hands in his pockets and a smirk on his face. Tatsu took in the moment, Sachiko, Haruko, Yuto, Leon, Takeru and Osamu all stood smiling up at him. “You guys, it’s been fun. I’m really gonna cherish each and every memory we’ve shared.” Leon raised an eyebrow and asked, “What about that time when you got beat by the Puppy?” With a playful kick to Leon and a smile, Sachiko said, “We’ve all been owned by that damn puppy. I’d like to see it happen now though.” As everyone laughed Tatsu rushed down to his friends and they shared a group hug. He would never forget the silly, serious, outlandish, happy, and sad times he experienced as a member of The Genin Fight Club. Tatsu then walked up to the Kage’s Mansion gates and entered.

It happened quickly. The Kage conceded that Tatsu’s abilities were more than enough for him to be assigned a Chuunin mission. As she looked over files she found a mission she thought perfect. The Kage looked up and addressed the young Genin. We have intelligence that says that Blood Village is planning an attack. Destroy their ANBU communications center and return here so that you may be granted the rank of Chuunin. You will be alone on this mission. Good luck and dismissed.” At that Tatsu turned and headed for his House to prepare for his mission.

Tatsu walked out of his village, running to Blood Village all hyped up because of the mission. Tatsu said to himself “I wanna become a Chuunin so badly. I hope I do this right.” He kept on going without resting. He got better while training as a Genin and now had much more resistance. When he got near Blood’s North Gates he saw there were two guards at the North Gates. He walked up normally into the gates and said to the guards, as he smiled “Hey, How you doing today?” The two guards looked at each other and saw that he was from Lightning and one of the guards asked “What’s your business here?” Tatsu then looked at him and said “I’m to destroy your ANBU Communications Center.” The two guards quickly got into a fighting stance and one said “listen kid! Go back to your village unless you don’t wanna die!” Tatsu then said “Bring it!” as he jumped into the air and throwing a Kunai with an Explosion tag to distract them. One of the guards threw a Shuriken to Tatsu, which passed really close to his arm and cut him. Tatsu said “And you call yourself a shinobi?!” He then made a taunting smile and got one of his Katanas out and moved quickly moving from left to right into one guard and hit him with the back of his Katana to his face. The guard then fell into the ground and was semi-conscience. The other guard looked at his teammate and made some hand signs. He then said “Shuriken Rain” and hundreds of Shurikens fell upon Tatsu. He evaded most of them, but some got him and gave him minor injuries. He said “Time to get on with me mission” Tatsu ran over straight into the other guard and when he was inches close he threw a Smoke Bomb and disappeared. The guard then looked around and saw he was not there, and so he went to help the other guard. Tatsu was running and hopping from rooftop to rooftop inside Blood Village. Some part of him liked the village. As he got closer to his objective he used a Genin jutsu, Transform, and got the appearance of an ANBU member of that village. Tatsu entered the ANBU Headquarters and saw two Chuunins, Siegmund and Kasumi. He saw their faces were familiar, but he did not talk to them. Tatsu silently, and in a sneaky manner, planted a few Exploding Tags in Blood’s ANBU Communication Center. Tatsu went out of the ANBU Community Center thinking his job was done. When Tatsu was getting out of the village, he made some hand signs and the Exploding Tags exploded. Kasumi knew there was something wrong, and so he used a Genjutsu on Tatsu to make him think his job was done. Tatsu went back to his village and went into the Kage mansion to report himself to the Kage. “Kage-sama I’m done. Blood Village’s ANBU Community Center has been destroyed.” The Kage looked at him with a serious look “You failed to pass the test, Tatsu. My sources tell me the Community Center is still there.” Tatsu with an amazed looked yelled “WHAT?! That can’t be!” Tatsu walked up to the Kage “I saw it explode myself… unless…” The Kage interrupted “Yes, unless someone used Genjutsu on you.” The Kage dismissed him and Tatsu went to his home. The next day the Kage gave him a simpler test to become a Chuunin, because she knew he had it in him. Tatsu completed his mission and so he became a Chuunin. He wasn’t happy anymore in his village though, after his first fail attempt to become a Chuunin, he didn’t want to show his face anymore.

Later that day, Tatsu thought of joining Blood Village. “I wonder what will happen if I join that village.” He then closed his eyes and slept for the night. Tatsu woke up very early in the morning and packed his most important things. He was about to start a whole new Journey. “I will miss this village. I will miss this house… I will miss my friends.” He then got out of his house and went out of the village. He walked and walked until he got to Demon Country. There, he entered through the West Gate, just to evade the guards from last time. “*Sighs* finally here I guess” Tatsu then wondered around the village, and so it began his new journey.
