Personality:Quick to anger and annoy, Deidara was very hot-headed. Something of a sadistic arsonist, he was not above relishing a good fight, and he often blew up his opponents in a very brutal fashion. Deidara's most distinctive trait, however, was his love of art. He would respect any form of it, even if it disagreed with his own. Deidara also had a habit of ending his sentences with nasal-like grunt, roughly translated as "yeah" or "hmmm". The latter is used in the VIZ version.
Deidara referred to his explosive ninjutsu as art, believing each bomb he made to be a significant accomplishment. He referred to his style as superflat (referring to certain types of art), and claimed pop (another art style) is dead. One of Deidara's catchphrases, "Art is an Explosion!" (芸術は爆発だ, Geijutsu wa Bakuhatsu da), was originally coined by famous Japanese abstract artist Tarō Okamoto (several of Deidara's explosives have resembled Okomoto's works too). Deidara was very proud of his art, to the point that he was simply unwilling to accept that anything could defeat it, leading to frequent overconfidence in battle.
Deidara referred to his partner Sasori as Master Sasori (サソリの旦那, Sasori no Danna) out of respect for him as a fellow artist. He also admitted, at least outwardly that Sasori was more powerful than he was. In spite of this, Deidara wasn't above goading his partner, and they frequently squabbled over the nature of true art (Deidara holding that art is transient and departing quickly; Sasori believing fine art is something wonderful that's left long into the future). This reflected their individual natures (Deidara made clay sculptures that explode; Sasori made long-lasting puppets out of humans). Deidara outwardly seemed to respect Sasori's beliefs, but couldn't resist getting a final jab in after Sasori's death.
Deidara's partnership with his second partner Tobi, however, was very different. Tobi apparently held a great respect for Deidara and frequently called him "senpai" (先輩, senior). Tobi's carefree and goofy personality did not please Deidara, who believed that all Akatsuki members should be serious and calm. Tobi frequently and unintentionally angered Deidara, which usually resulted in him attacking Tobi in a comedic fashion (e.g., blasting him with his exploding clay or strangling him with his legs). In battle, however, the two quickly set aside their differences and worked well together. Deidara also seemed to have a minor respect for Tobi, as shown when he apologized to his partner in his thoughts before he initiated his Self-Destruction.

This technique changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground, one can sense what is happening on the surface and use that information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. One can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy can't reach. Tobi used this attack to hide some Exploding Clay underground. Deidara used this technique to escape damage of one of his exploding suicide clones in the fight against Team Guy, and Team Kakashi.
Earth Release: Hidden Among Rocks Technique (Doton: Iwagakure no Jutsu; English "Earth Style: Hidden in Stones Jutsu")

This technique is similar to the Leech All Creation: Attack Prevention Technique. It allows the user to become invisible and then move in and out of rock. This jutsu can be used to avoid earth techniques, such as the Earth Release: Bedrock Coffin.

Clay: Death Arrow Creation (Nendo: Shiwan no Nachi)

Using Clay within his body, Deidara engulfs clay within his arm, morphing it into a long tunnel like of chakra and clay. Then releasing it in a rapid motion and sending a arrow at the target. Because of the chakra within it, Once penetrating the target, Deidara can use chakra to expand it and rip open the target's wounds.

After morphing clay in his palm into a small hand, Deidara super sizes it to form a massive arm which he sends at the target. This move uses alot of chakra which he controls by threads like a puppet. With his large hand he can move it to grab targets and hodl them as well.

Deidara brings a large amount of clay into his mouth, morphing it into a solid ball. Once the ball is made, Deidara spits it out and it expands making a wall around him. This wall is strong and blocks Wind, Water and some fire attacks but it weak to Lightning and earth, since earth is used it it, it can rip through it, and lightning undos the clay, as well as fire melts it. When the target touches the wall it explodes.

This Jutsu is used to create multiple butterflies in Deidara's hands. Once Deidara releases the butterflies into the air, All of them rapidly duplicate into a mass collection of butterflies within the sky. The butterflies spin around the target forming a vortex and one by one explode causing severe damage.

The user makes a clone out of mud and clay so that the clone takes in all the damage. In the anime, it is shown as a clone melting into clay after an attack from Naruto's Rasengan. However, Kakashi refers to this as a Kawarimi (Replacement) which possibly means Deidara can switch himself with a clone to avoid damage.

Using the mouths in the palms of his hands, Deidara can infuse clay with chakra. He then molds it into a shape depending on the abilities he wants it to have and spits it out. After molding the clay, Deidara can enlarge it to various sizes depending on the intended purpose of the clay. Once enlarged, the clay creations can be brought to life and controlled remotely by Deidara. Deidara can make the clay explode by saying Katsu (喝). Though the explosives are powerful, they are all earth-based techniques, and as such, can be defused by a lightning technique.
Clay Ranking
Deidara ranks his clay by number in a fashion similar to the C4 explosive, the weakest being C1 and the most powerful being C4. The other clay ranks are much more dangerous than C1, and any foe that sees Deidara use any rank higher than C1 is usually one Deidara sees as a worthy opponent:
C1: Deidara's most basic and versatile form of explosive clay created from a single palm mouth. These are small animated dolls that often resemble small birds or insects, though he has once made snakes with them. They have little explosive power, making them excellent for covert operations. He can release them at high speeds.
C2: "Dragon" (ドラゴン, Doragon): One of Deidara's specialties; a large dragon, capable of flight. While Deidara is safely on its back, the dragon spits out smaller clay figures that attack the opponent like guided missiles. The dragon also produces clay mines, which is used to force opponents to fight in a limited space.
C3: Deidara's most powerful large scale bomb, an enormous, roughly human-shaped statue that Deidara drops on targets from above. Its explosive power was great enough to apparently destroy a large portion of a village.
C4: "Garuda" (カルラ, Karura; Viz "C4 Karura"): A giant doll, shaped like Deidara himself. When it ruptures, a cloud of microscopic bombs is released. Impossible to be seen by normal people, the victims breathe in the bombs, which then enter the bloodstream. Once there, the countless micro-bombs explode, causing the victims' bodies to disintegrate at the cellular level, literally turning them into dust. According to Deidara, he created C4 for the sole purpose to defeat Itachi.
C0: "Ultimate Art" (究極芸術, Kyūkyoku Geijutsu): Deidara's most powerful jutsu; a suicidal technique in which he eats a large ball of clay with the mouth on his chest. This consumes his entire body, condensing the body into a large black sphere with jagged teeth and pupil-less eyes. The sphere then opens up and detonates, destroying everything within a blast that covers more than ten kilometers.
