Stealing Information

Second mission to be carried out in Crater! Woohoo! ...

Alright. Basically, gather information on a gang creating a new drug. The drug was naturally illegal. But the location wasn't specified, unfortunately. The mission was B-ranked, shouldn't be that life-risking. Also, the ryo reward was formidable, so he gladly accepted the opportunity.

Scratching his head, he began walking around the streets of Crater, clueless on where to go.Drugs were related to medicine. Now, medicine was either made in the greenhouse, or the hospital. Coincidentally, he turned his head right just at that moment, and stared at the huge building. This was the village hospital. And since this was nearer, why not scavenge it?

The ground underneath him tapped weakly from his footsteps. But soon afterwards, Yakate noticed the chakra signal of some young, powerful, strong ninja, who was approaching Sunagakure. Ignoring the massive chakra signature, Yakate focused on the smaller beacon; the beacon of about 6 weak men. Perhaps these were the ones making illegal drugs? Shrugging, Yakate followed his senses, hoping they would lead him correctly...

... Delightful. A gang of random villagers were just sitting there in the open. Not exactly open-aired, but from the area Yakate was seeing them through, they looked utterly exposed; nothing was tehre to hide their presence. Incredibly... stupid. Grinning, and smirking as well, Yakate took a comfortable position on a ledge, staring at the group of people dressed like medic ninja...

... After 5 minutes of listening, Yakate realized that their voices dropped down to whispers. Now what...? He couldn't just sit there and listen to them anymore. Time to abuse his powers... or stealth. But powers sounds better. Meh~

The party of gangster-like people started shuffling, and walked towards a cabinet. Yes. They were in something like a ditch, fully furnished with hospital equipment. Possibly an underground tunnel. What could he expect; this was the village hidden in the crater. Craters and manholes are to be expected. That is why he had such a beautifully eavesdropping view over the men.

They gathered by a cabinet, opened a drawer, and took out a syringe; a needle full of some sort of chemical. He wasn't an experct on chemistry or science, so color-coding was the best he could do. A new drug eh? Of course they needed a test subject. He waited for a test subject to appear... oh my...

Test subjects were usually animals, rats, insects, etc. Apples in some cases, or other fruits. Or maybe even a living object. For THIS experiment, however, the test subject was a human child. He was attired as if he came from a ninja family. He wasn't crying, just keeping still, soundless. He didn't seem to care that strangers were all around him. Or was he the child of one of those particular men?... Yes? Because a certain membver seemed to be hiding in a corner, shuddering, as if sobs were shooting through his nerves. Horrifying...

All for the sake of a drug? A new drug? So, all of this for money? Corruption... people these days were absolutely instiable. But that was the way of the ninja, no? Care about none others, just fulfill your duty... and since he was playing ANBU over here, this was his prime objective. Gather information on this new drug being made by a gang of people. Ah...

Yakate almost closed his eyes, but his will as a ninja, and kazekage, drove him to stare at the child, being injected by a drug that would soon be used only by adult, mature ninja. But for moments, nothing happened. Except that the child wailed out the first moment he saw the syringe. His heart ached to see the father of the boy sulking in that corner. He sacrifced his son just for research purposes...

Yakate waited silently, stiffly, biting his lip, waiting for the syringe to penetrate the child's skin. penetrate... he just had to break a smile after that. His face instantly stiffened, as a man pierced through the child's skin with the syringe. Now to watch and wait...

For a long moment of silence, nothing happened at all. All stood still, except for a flock of crows that flew ahead, breaking the awkward silence. But there wasn't much awkward about it, since they weren't saying anything important anyway. He kept waiting... the baby was stock still... silent...

...

SIlent. Why was the child suddenly so silent? He was crying mere seconds ago. Even the father looked puzzled, clueless. Hmm... Wait. A child does not stop crying unless it's satisfaction has been fulfilled, or it gets tired. Or... if it was dead. Hmm...

Yakate spine sent a schock through his nerves. The child was lipm and still. And, he was blue. Scarily, ghastly blue. As if he had suffocated. The child... was dead. And the father? He still had no idea what was going on, what happened to his boy. The other members of the group shielded vision from him. How... cruel.

The child wasn't able to contain the drug, the effects hadn't worked properly on the child. Either the side effects got better of him, or the normal effects were too great for the benefit of a child. Either way... this drug was by no means legal in public. And was this not what he was after? Study the drug as deeply as possible? Or would they test it next on an adult test subject?

... No. That was it. The group simply walked away, disbanded, leaving the syringe safely in the cabinet drawer. The father, crying miserably at the way his son died. The harsh way a chld may die, they way he had died, no one knew how it felt. Was it painful? Or just instant? Painful...

As the man left with his son as well, Yakate jumped into that narrow cave, and raided the cabinet, searching for the syringe. And, conviniently, there lay a whole page full of instructions on how to use the drug, side-effects. They even included what date they started the project on, what they did. Every single thing to pass a mission. Laughing half-heartedly, he took up all the plans, and the syringe itself, and set off for the mission requestor... mission complete!
